Translating your classroom session planning and teaching practices to the online learning environment can be daunting. This workshop introduces a way of applying online learning design principles that should help you design effective online learning sequences for your students and identify online alternatives for the teaching strategies and tactics you currently apply in the classroom. The design framework, mostly developed by Professor Ron Oliver, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) at Edith Cowan University and mentor to the Framework’s Toolbox project, is exemplified by Flexible Learning Toolboxes. Come along and discuss your online design projects and test them against this successful online design framework.

A guide to creating learning design for VET was developed by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework. The guide has been designed for learning designers in the Australian vocational education and training (VET) sector, seeking to plan and design online learning materials. The purpose of this guide is to provide designers with a series of model learning designs that they can use to plan the learning environments. The guide cannot capture all learning and design variables but provides information that is intended to inform the learning designer on how best these can be considered and dealt with

From the Repository to the Web: Toolbox customisation workship

Posted by hlynch on 15th June 2009

This workshop takes you through the steps needed to create a self opening CD Rom to host Toolbox learning objects. When you create the CD you have the chance to create a simple index page where you can incorporate your business logo, corporate information,  links to sequences in the learning object and instruction to students. This procedure has many  time saving applications for getting learning materials efficiently to student who may not have access to a reliable internet service.

Toolbox workshops 2009 March: Make your Own Learning Objects with the VET Reload Tool

Posted by hlynch on 2nd March 2009

Dear Colleagues,

The new season of Toolbox Professional Development Workshops begins with an exciting new topic  “Make you own learning object using the VET Reload Tool.”

 Make Your Own Learning Object!

This workshop shows you how to assemble your existing resources, e.g.  word documents, digital photographs, html pages, a video, a pdf file in a learning object format where they can be used as a standalone, coherent resource group or imported into any Learning management system. They can even be popped onto a CD for each student. Both the approach and the tool (VET Reload) lets you construct objects that can be used “teach” components of a subject, elements of competence and so forth in one neat package.

Requirements: Bring a collection of resources on a USB Stick.

When
8am – 9.30am, Tuesday March 17th

Where
Computer Lab B103, B Block
Southside Campus CIT
Cnr Ainsworth Ave and Hindmarsh Drive
Phillip, ACT.

Please Register by contacting Helen Lynch on 6207 4031 by Monday 10am, March 16th or email helen.lynchat cit.act.edu.au
